AFTERCARE

Burning & Safety Tips

To ensure a clean, even burn and to keep your Boujie candle in perfect condition, please follow the guidance below:

- Always trim the wick to around 5mm before each burn to prevent soot and uneven burning.
- Allow the wax to melt fully to the edges of the container on the first burn — this helps prevent tunnelling and promotes an even burn throughout.
- Do not burn your candle for more than 4 hours at a time to protect the vessel and maintain fragrance quality.
- Keep your candle on a heat-resistant surface and away from draughts, direct sunlight, and anything flammable.
- Never leave a burning candle unattended or near children and pets.
- Stop burning your candle when around 1cm of wax remains to prevent overheating the container.

Taking a few extra moments to care for your handmade soy wax candle will help you enjoy a longer-lasting, cleaner, and more fragrant burn — the Boujie way.

Frosting

Frosting (Crystallisation) is a natural effect that occurs with soy wax as it tries to return to its original state — this can occasionally appear on decorative candles. A common misconception is that frosting means a candle is of poor quality. In fact, it’s simply part of the beauty of using natural soy wax.

If frosting appears, gently rub the area with a warm, soft cloth to help reduce the effect. Please note that additional frosting may develop within six months of purchase.

At Boujie, we take great care during the candle-making process to minimise frosting. We carefully control the wax melting temperature, select high-quality fragrances, and maintain the optimal room temperature throughout production. Oh, the sensitivity of beautiful soy wax!

Sweating

Sweating is a thin layer of natural oil that can sometimes appear on the surface of your candle. This usually happens when the candle is exposed to temperature changes — for example, moving it from a cool to a warm room.

If this occurs, simply wipe away the excess oil with a soft tissue. To help prevent sweating, keep your candle away from draughts, direct sunlight, and areas with fluctuating temperatures.

Please be assured that sweating does not affect the candle’s quality, burn performance, or scent throw.
